Research

The department of Nuclear Medicine at the University Hospital Zurich (USZ) is an internationally recognized center for molecular and hybrid imaging. We have a well-developed infrastructure at our two locations.
One center is located in the heart of Zurich on the USZ campus and on the second center is on the Schlieren campus of the University of Zurich in the so called Wagi areal.

Traditionally, our focus is on so-called hybrid imaging. This method combines two or more technologies to visualize the body or individual organs with regards to function and anatomy.
This allows us to explore and visualize the structure and function of our body and diseases more comprehensively.

Technologies we use include classical single photon emission tomography (SPECT), positron emission tomography (PET), computed tomography (CT), magnetic resonance tomography (MRI).
For the multifaceted molecular imaging, which we apply in clinical routine and in research, we produce the radiopharmaceutical substances in our in-house radiopharmacy or in collaboration with the ETH and the Paul Scherrer Institute.

Our Infrastructure includes the following devices for medical imaging in humans:

1 Time-of-flight PET/CT (Schlieren)

1 3 Tesla Premier MRI  (Schlieren)
1 PET/CT (Wollishofen)
